寒い (samui) cold (adjective)
私が質問をすると、彼女は私に冷たい視線を向けた。
わたしがしつもんをすると、かのじょはわたしにつめたいしせんをむけた。
She gave me a cold stare when questioned.
ここの一月はとても寒い。
ここのいちがつはとてもさむい。
It’s very cold here in January.
一週間風邪を引いていて、まだ良くなっていません。
いっしゅうかんかぜをひいていて、まだよくなっていません。
I’ve had a cold for one week, and I still haven’t got better.
男の子は寒がっています。

If the picture had shown people in a blizzard, it would have been appropriate. A popsicle is never 寒い、but 冷たい。Both mean cold, but are used differently.
