Important Announcement - Server Upgrade
Friday, August 18th, 2006Update: We have postponed the server upgrade until further notice. We hope to re-schedule it as soon as possible and will post a new maintenance window when it becomes available.
In an effort to improve the performance, speed, and reliability of our site and to support our growing community of listeners, we will be upgrading our server environment this weekend. A maintenance window has been scheduled for Sunday, August 27th between 12am and 12pm EST. During this time, the JapanesePod101.com site will be available intermittently. We will do our best to minimize any disruptions or downtime.
Please accept our apologies in advance for this inconvenience. Thank you for all your support.

Eran-san,
Good luck with all that — hope it works ou
Thank you! I thought maybe it was my computer that made the site come in more slowly than usual.

Eran-san,
Server upgrades are wonderful! It is nice to have more and more listeners visit the website. I noticed JapanesePod101.com was down about an hour ago. Thanks to you and your team for working hard to keep up with the ever-increasing user load.

Mina-san,
I would like to express my sincere apologies again for the brief downtime and overall site sluggishness earlier today and in the last few days. I cannot thank you guys enough for your support and commitment as we fight through these growing pains.
I have just released a new mechanism which caches our feeds and significantly reduces the load on our server by utilizing far less CPU cycles. I am crossing my fingers that this tweak will dramatically improve stability and provide a major performance boost until we carry out the server upgrade this weekend.
Please let me know if you are seeing improved performance and faster response times.
Thanks,
Eran

Great article in Newsweek. I’ve been in Japan for 3 years, studying Japanese on-and-off for 3 years. I bought an iPod 2 weeks ago and fuond your podcasts a few days ago. I started from Beginner 1, and although easy, find useful expressions in the most basic lessons. Your lessons are useful, entertaining, and I really appreciate what you’re doing. Thank you very much to all involved. You guys rock!
