The 2006 Podcast Awards contest is a second annual event that recognizes the best podcasters in the world by allowing the people (listeners and podcasters) to nominate, and then vote for their favorite podcast. I hate the fact that podcastawards.com *requires* us to enter our email.
They could’ve just have us enter a code from a picture-gram instead. It would achieve the same purpose of proof-of-human.
In fact, the email method doesn’t even ensure proof-of-human anyway. It’s not hard to setup an email-server, then write a script that monitor your own email server to auto-reply any email directed to it. This will effectively spam their voting.
In the end, they just want to collect our emails, most likely for the purpose of selling us out to email-spammers. If you do vote, expect to see a few more spam-emails in your spam folder.

Well, the issue with that that it doesn’t have any way to stop people from voting more than once a day. Of course, people could use multiple emails addresses, but at least they can only use them once a day.

Jason-san,
Yea you’re right. I guess email is the simplest way to work. But I still don’t like the idea of submitting my email address.
Despite that, I did cast my vote of the day!
But I better not find spam-mails from them. grrr…

Justanothergirl - create and use an alternate e-mail address if possible.
I always have a separate e-mail address for things like this where I suspect even the slightest possibility of getting spammed as a result.

This sounds like so much ballot stuffing but it’s not one vote per day per person; it seems to be one vote per day per email account. I found out purely by accident, honest.

I’ve tried several times and have been unable to vote. When I tried from home, the “e-mail confirmation” (aol) bounced. When I tried from work, my company has blocked the site. Sorry.
